Pattern overlay effect.

PATTERN OVERLAY TEXT EFFECT

Hello, darlings. I have been asked to create a tutorial for text effect, so if you desire to create a somewhat stoned or cracked effect to your text and have the following outcome, follow the steps in this tutorial:
At first I will teach you how to create your own pattern of a texture image you can find on the internet. I usually use deviantart to find the graphics: CLICK HERE.
When you have found a good resource image, open it in your Photoshop program and then go into Edit -> Define Pattern...
It will save the image in the folders of the program and show it as an available pattern. After which you are ready to apply it to your text (which you must create, at first, of course, using the Type Tool). To open the Layer Style window click twice on the layer of the selected text and then go into "Pattern Overlay". I usually never change the Blend Overlay mode, but you can play around with it to see which effect suits you better. However, the most important part is the Overlay image selected - you will see a little square with an image in it - click on the image and then select the one you have created into a Pattern. There, it should apply the Pattern to the text.
To give the text a more lively effect - apply a shadow to it. It usually looks prettier with a shadow.
